Providing a “lift” to IN-Line’s Drone Services
RICHMOND, VA, 2/27/2020 – IN-Line Consulting Senior Consultant, Kevin Rummel, has received his FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification.
Commercial Drone piloting is currently the fastest growing segment in the transportation sector, causing the FAA to begin providing stronger regulations regarding drone use to ensure public safety. One such regulation is that anyone flying a drone for commercial use must now possess the FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification to legally operate an unmanned aircraft system (UAS).
Much of the knowledge necessary for the certification is the same as the FAA requirements for manned aircraft. A remote pilot must understand airspace classifications and operating requirements, flight restrictions, aviation weather sources, radio communications procedures, airport operations, interpreting sectional charts, maintain flight and maintenance logs, as well as emergency procedures.
These regulations are just a start for the FAA, further regulations impacting commercial drone use are currently in development and will likely be announced later this year. IN-Line is paying special attention to these changes to ensure safety and efficiency for the company’s client base.
